Provenance & timeline
Who made jhoothkigoonj.com is not established — the registration is privacy-shielded. What is establishable is the sequence of events around its launch, and how fast the ruling party's digital machine found an anonymous, zero-audience website. Every timestamp below carries its source. The reasoning that follows is labelled as reasoning, not fact.
Who registered it — the honest answer
Unidentifiable from the registration. Every WHOIS contact field — registrant, admin, tech —
reads Redacted For Privacy behind Domain Protection Services, Inc.
(Name.com's privacy proxy). The address and phone on record are Name.com's, shared across 27 million
domains — not the owner's. Domain created 25 Aug 2026, 9:28 PM IST; hosted on Vercel.
Every de-anonymisation vector was tried and came up empty: no pre-privacy WHOIS history (the domain is days old), no personal SANs in Certificate Transparency, no DNS TXT/verification tokens, no team name in HTTP headers, no author metadata in the images.
One vector remains open but has so far produced nothing: the site embeds the Google
Analytics ID G-VFFQ89Q3NF. If that same GA account were ever used on another website, the
link would surface in reverse-analytics indexes (SpyOnWeb, DNSlytics, BuiltWith) and identify the
operator's other properties. As of our latest recheck it maps to no other site — so it neither
confirms nor reveals anything yet. We recheck it periodically and will update this page only if that
changes. Anyone publishing a name today is guessing.
The "Gen Z girl / IIT student" story is unverified. It appears only in anonymous X posts and was repeated by outlets without confirmation; News9 states the identity "remains unclear". If it is ever shown to be a private student, our standing rule is to protect them — city-level at most, no surname, no address. If it resolves to an agency or political operation, that is a legitimate public-interest subject and we name the organisation.

The 26-hour question
We do not assert who built the site; the registration is privacy-shielded and unproven (see Provenance). What follows is inference about the amplification, stated as hypotheses with what each would require. The facts in the timeline are sourced; the reasoning is labelled as reasoning.
What we observe
- The site covers four rallies (17 Jun – 22 Aug), 40 claims and 177 cited URLs — but the domain is only 3 days old. Either the content was drafted in parallel with the rally tour and deployed the moment the domain went live, or it was assembled at extraordinary speed. The ChatGPT copy-paste fingerprints in its citations point to fast machine-assisted assembly.
- Within roughly 26 hours of an anonymous, zero-audience domain going live, the head of the BJP's IT Cell had found it, read it, judged it 'brilliant', and amplified it to millions of followers.
- Simultaneously, anonymous accounts seeded a provenance story — 'made by a Gen Z girl' / 'IIT student' — that no outlet could verify. The cover story and the amplification arrived together.
- The party publicly denied any association while its most senior digital-operations figure promoted it and its spokespersons built press conferences around it.
- The @jhoothkigoonj account brands itself as 'the GenZ of India' and, in a 27 August post, dared Rahul Gandhi to disprove the site while insisting it not be dismissed as 'Godi Media'. Yet its own public following list (observed 28 August 2026, screenshot on file) is a short, uniformly BJP-aligned set: BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya, The Jaipur Dialogues, Karan Vijay Sharma, Ranvir Shorey and NDTV's Shiv Aroor. Who an account follows is not proof of who runs it — but a self-described neutral youth account whose entire feed of interest is the ruling party's chief digital strategist and its media ecosystem is hard to square with the grassroots, non-partisan identity it claims, and fits the amplification pattern in the timeline above.
- The account's own posts describe a campaign, not a fact-check. On 27 August 2026 it instructed followers: 'Open Rahul Gandhi's pinned insta post and comment this under his post. Target - 100k comments 💪🏻' — an organised comment-brigade, which is political mobilisation, not verification. It also solicited screenshots of 'threats' promising its 'team … will take the appropriate legal action', and framed the effort in nakedly partisan terms ('There's a reason our parents rejected Congress 12 years ago'). Independent fact-checking organisations do not run brigades or campaign lines.
- A likely self-admission of method: on 27 August the account posted 'This generation uses ChatGPT, Grok, and all other AI tools. You simply can't spread lies openly and get away with it.' This is the same operation whose site citations still carry the copy-paste tag utm_source=chatgpt.com — consistent with an AI-drafted 'fact-check' rather than original research.
- Growth inconsistent with an organic launch: the account announced '11k followers in less than 5 hours' on 27 August and reached ~46K within days, on a handle created the same month with only 3 accounts followed (all BJP-aligned). Explosive follower growth on a brand-new anonymous handle, coinciding with amplification by BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya, fits a coordinated push rather than spontaneous virality.
Three explanations, and what each would require
Organic discovery low
That an anonymous new site with no followers, no backlinks and no press coverage was found by the IT-Cell head within a day purely by chance or ordinary browsing, and independently judged worth amplifying. Possible, but a site this new has essentially no organic surface area to be discovered on in 26 hours.
Tipped off plausible
That someone who knew the site existed sent it to the IT Cell before it had any public footprint. This does not require the party to have built it — only that a line of communication existed between the builder(s) and the amplifiers before the public knew.
Coordinated launch best-fit-but-unproven
That the build, the launch and the amplification were parts of one operation, with the 'anonymous Gen Z' story as deniable provenance. This is the strongest fit for the observed timing and the simultaneous cover story, but it is inference — the registrant is not proven, so we do not state it as fact.
What we will actually say
The honest, defensible statement is narrow and strong: an anonymous, privacy-shielded, LLM-assisted site that sources most of its 'evidence' from the government's own press office was amplified by the head of the ruling party's IT Cell within about a day of going live, alongside an unverifiable grassroots origin story, while the party denied involvement. Whether that is coincidence or coordination, the pattern is the signature of a managed campaign, not an independent fact-check. We invite the site's authors to prove otherwise by identifying themselves.
